King Tommen I Baratheon is the legal son of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister, but is actually the offspring of Cersei and her brother, Ser Jaime Lannister. He is the heir of his older brother, Joffrey I Baratheon, and rises to the throne after Joffrey's murder. He is the third husband of Queen Margaery Tyrell.

Appearance and Character

Tommen is a soft-looking boy. He has a notably gentle and transigent disposition, and enjoys reading, listening to music, and watching plays. Although he does not favour martial skills, he has a stubborn streak which arises on occasion. When confronted by a problem he seems to be unhappy unless he can overcome it.

History

Tommen was born in the Red Keep, in King's Landing, 291 years after Aegon's Conquest. His older brother Joffrey apparently physically abused Tommen, and mentally, by bullying him and killing his pets.

A Game of Thrones

Tommen rides north with his legal mother and father when Robert heads to Winterfell. He is presented to Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Tully upon his arrival at the castle. He is escorted into the evening's feast by Arya Stark.

He attends a training session in the Winterfell courtyard hosted by Ser Rodrik Cassel. He is beaten in a duel by Bran Stark. Arya thinks that he looks positively round as a result of all the protective layers that he wears. Tommen worries about Bran after his fall from the abandoned tower.
