A Song of Ice and Fire Wiki

Been doing some work on the Wikia and it looks good so far, although things are in a very embryonic stage here.

Some suggestions and ideas:

There is already an existing Wiki here, run by the people at Westeros.org. Under Wiki licensing rules, taking information from one Wiki to put in another, including the many ASoIaF pages at Wikipedia itself, is okay as long as that is pointed out. There is an existing template that can be added to pages with material drawn from Wikipedia, and it should be straightforward to come up with one for the Westeros Wiki as well.

As additional sources, Tower of the Hand and the Citadel are both useful for finding page references and details. In addition. the So Spake Martin section of the Citadel is invaluable for finding lots of little bits of information and trivia that GRRM has revealed about Westeros over the years and is a valid source (i.e. you can directly link it in the references section). In these cases, again please give credit to these sites where necessary.

Image copyright should be looked at carefully. We had to remove all of Amoka's portraits from Wikipedia because they were in copyright violation, and it would be a good idea not to have to do that again. The covers of the books, the specially-made map on the Westeros page and other images can be argued to be fair use, but things such as Amoka's portraits and internal artwork from the RPGs, the calendar, the Art of Ice and Fire and the card game are not fair use and should not be used.

I must say, this wiki still needs alot of work. It's lacking soooooo much information on... well, pretty much everything. I am rereading the series, and am going to add information on various things. The Cold God 20:25, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

Future status of this wiki[]

This wiki has been supersceded by the far more popular and active Wiki of Ice and Fire. The future status of this wiki is currently under discussion. Suggestions have so far ranged from simply mirroring the Wiki of Ice and Fire information to changing this wiki to one based around the spin-off products and merchandise from the series. Further suggestions are welcome.--Werthead 13:12, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
