he is six foot tall, but looks shorter as he has a hunch. He has large, leathery hands and his feet are large, bare and weathered from all the walking he does. He has grey hair and a lined, windburnt face.
Meribald travelled to the Stepstones and fought in the War of the Ninepenny Kings, jokingly serving as the squire of his older brother, William. William would die along with another brother, Robin, from a fever before the fighting even began, whist his only other brother, Owen, died in the actual fighting. Meribald possibly became a broken man as a result of all this family tragedy.
He became a septon upon his return to the Riverlands, but abused his privilege to convince young girls to sleep with him, thus breaking his vow of celibacy. he now walks bare feet to atone for his sins, and has memorized the Seven Pointed Star, because he can neither read nor write. His walk around the riverlands begins and ends at Maidenpool, and takes roughly half a year to complete.
A Feast for CrowsEdit
Meribald agrees to guide Brienne of Tarth, Podrick Payne and Ser Hyle Hunt to Saltpans in search of Sandor Clegane. He takes them to the Quiet Isle, where they meet the Elder Brother, who tells Brienne about Sandor's death. The group are attacked by Rorge and Biter, but Brienne fights both, and Gendry kills Biter. Afterwards Brienne, Podrick and Hyle are taken prisoner by Lady Stoneheart, who intends to execute them all for serving House Lannister.
