Ser Jonothor Darry was an anointed knight of House Darry, brother of Ser Willem Darry and a member of the Kingsguard of King Aerys II Targaryen. He was slain at the Battle of the Trident, whilst fighting under the command of Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen.
Alongside Ser Barristan Selmy and Prince Lewyn Martell Jonothor was an important knight during Robert's Rebellion. He was sent with Ser Barristan to rally the forces of House Targaryen that had scattered after Lord Jon Connington led them to defeat at the Battle of the Bells.
After Aerys had his Hand, Lord Qarlton Chelsted, burnt for defiance, Jonothor was stationed outside the royal chambers, with his young Kingsguard brother Ser Jaime Lannister. They can audibly hear Aerys rape his sister-wife, Queen Rhaella Targaryen. When Jaime asks whether they should be protecting the queen too Ser Jonothor says yes, but also points out that protecting her from the King himself is one thing that they cannot do.
Ser Jonothor was one of the three Kingsguard chosen to ride with Rhaegar to the Trident. Jaime pleads with Rhaegar that he should take him over Jonothor, but his brother snaps at him and reminds him of his duty to follow orders and protect the king. Ser Jonothor is killed during the Battle of the Trident, cut down during the midst of battle.
