House Toyne is an extinct noble house that used to lie within the Stormlands, owing fealty to House Baratheon. Their sigil was a winged heart, black on gold, within a black bordure embattled. Their words were "Fly High, Fly Far".

History

It is unclear how senior or powerful the House was, only that they became respected enough that one of their members, Ser Terrence Toyne, became a Sworn Brother of the Kingsguard during the reign of King Aegon IV Targaryen. Unfortunately, that knight then slept with one of the king's mistresses and was summarily executed by dismemberment, whilst the king's mistress was forced to watch before she went to her own execution. Terrence's two brothers, furious, attempted to kill Aegon IV but were stopped by his remaining Kingsguard led by his brother, Aemon the Dragonknight, although Aemon was killed.

In response for this treachery it appears that Aegon IV outlawed the house and its surviving members were exiled or fled into the Kingswood, eventually forming the Kingswood Brotherhood of rogues. Some decades later, an outlaw descendant of the house, Simon Toyne, was slain in battle by Ser Barristan Selmy, the same battle where Jaime Lannister proved his skill at arms. The house now appears to be totally extinct.
