House Blacktyde is a noble house from the Iron Islands. They are sworn to House Greyjoy. Their seat is Blacktyde Castle, on the island of Blacktyde. Their sigil is vairy vert and sable.

History Edit

Qhored the Cruel, King of the Iron Islands, was considered by some to have been a member of House Blacktyde, even though he is remembered as being of House Hoare.

King Joron I Blacktyde captured Gyles II Gardener, King of the Reach, and cut him to pieces to use him as bait. He also raided the Arbor and took away many of their women.

Lord Baelor Blacktyde's father was killed during the Greyjoy Rebellion. After the rebellion was quashed, Baelor was taken as a hostage in Oldtown for eight years. When he returned to the Iron Islands he had converted to the Faith of the Seven.

Tristifer Botley served as a ward for House Blacktyde after Balon Greyjoy discovered that he intended to marry Asha Greyjoy. Joseran, the Maester of House Blacktyde, refused to send any of his letters to Asha.

A Feast for Crows Edit

Beron Blacktyde is one of the Drowned Men that joins his voice with that of Aeron Greyjoy in calling for a Kingsmoot. Before the Kingsmoot, Baelor Blacktyde visits Lord Rodrik Harlaw at Ten Towers to talk about the event. He leaves shortly after, fearing that Euron Greyjoy will descend upon the other candidates and kill them all.

Baelor lands his ship, Nightflyer, on the shores of Old Wyk. Initially he, along with other members of House Blacktyde, support Victarion Greyjoy, but, after Victarion refuses to end the war with The North, Baelor switches his support to Asha Greyjoy, who promises peace. Baelor tries to escape the Kingsmoot after Euron's victory, but is seized, and brought before him in chains. Euron has him chopped into seven parts, a mocking tribute to Baelor's following of the Faith of the Seven.

Euron takes Baelor's sable cloak and wears it during the Taking of the Shields.

A Dance with Dragons Edit

Beron Blacktyde is seized by Euron's men who are looking for Aeron Greyjoy. He is put to questioning.
