House Bar Emmon is a noble house from the Crownlands. They make their seat at Sharp Point on Massey's Hook. They are sworn directly to Dragonstone. Their sigil is a leaping blue swordfish on a fretty of silver and white. The current head of the house is Lord Duram Bar Emmon.
History[]
Andal Invasion[]
Togarion Bar Emmon was an Andal warlord during the Andal Invasion who established a kingdom north of the Blackwater Rush, but was opposed by House Darklyn of Duskendale. Sensing a weakness to the south, Togarion took the daughter of King Josua Massey as his wife, and led his entire host across Blackwater Bay to settle on Massey's Hook. There, he established his seat at Sharp Point, and opposed the forces of Storm King Qarlton II Durrandon, throwing his men out of Stonedance, and establishing his wife's brother as a puppet ruler. Massey's Hook later came back under the control of the Stormlands, however.
Targaryen Era[]
Prior to the War of Conquest, House Bar Emmon were sworn to House Durrandon of Storm's End, but had closer ties to the Targaryens of Dragonstone. When Aegon the Conqueror launched his invasion, House Bar Emmon sided with him instead of the Storm King, Argilac Durrandon. With the creation of the Crownlands after the conquest, House Bar Emmon became sworn to Dragonstone instead of Storm's End.
As the realm began to turn against King Maegor I Targaryen, Lord Bar Emmon was one of a score of lesser lords that gathered at his command. However, when Maegor mysteriously died upon the Iron Throne, Lord Bar Emmon fled back to Sharp Point. Whilst the new king, Jaehaerys I, resided upon Dragonstone, Lord Bar Emmon was amongst the first who visited and talked with him. When the Shivers struck the realm, Lord Bar Emmon was one of the nobles who perished.
House Bar Emmon were amongst the houses that supported Princess Rhaenys Targaryen during the Great Council of 101 AC. Lord Bar Emmon was a member of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's black council during the Dance of the Dragons. After the greens' victory at the Battle on the Honeywine, Lord Bar Emmon suggested Rhaenyra should bend the knee to Aegon II Targaryen, but his advice was rejected.

A Clash of Kings[]
As a vassal of Dragonstone, Lord Duram Bar Emmon supports Stannis Baratheon's claim upon the Iron Throne. He is present for the burning of the sept on Dragonstone, and Davos Seaworth sees him turn a splotchy grey. Stannis believes that the lords sworn to him, including Bar Emmon, are a poor crop.
House Bar Emmon's contribution to Stannis' war fleet is Swordfish, which is destroyed by wildfire during the Battle of the Blackwater.
A Storm of Swords[]
After Stannis' defeat on the Blackwater, House Bar Emmon are one of the few who remain loyal to him. However, Lord Duram's support is disparaged by both Stannis and Lord Alester Florent, for he is a feeble, fat boy of fifteen.
The Bar Emmon banners are spotted at Castle Black amongst Stannis' men, as Lord Bar Emmon sent men north with Stannis.
