Ser Harwin Strong, also known as Breakbones, was an anointed knight of House Strong and served for a time as a captain in the City Watch of King's Landing. He was the eldest son and heir of Lord Lyonel Strong and the older brother of Lord Larys Strong. He was killed in a fire at Harrenhal alongside his father.

Appearance and Character Edit

Harwin was described as the strongest man in the Seven Kingdoms whilst he was alive.

History Edit

Harwin was granted the favour of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen during a tourney to celebrate her wedding with Ser Laenor Velaryon. He broke his collarbone and elbow in a joust with Ser Criston Cole during that tourney, causing the fool Mushrooms to thereafter name him Brokenbones. He traveled to Dragonstone with the Princess as her sworn shield in 114 AC.

Harwin died in a fire at Harrenhal alongside his father. Some blamed the legendary curse of Harrenhal for their deaths, whilst others believe that the two men were murdered. Popular suspects include King Viserys I Targaryen, Lord Corlys Velaryon, Prince Daemon Targaryen and Larys Strong.

Controversy Edit

Due to Harwin's closeness to Princess Rhaenyra there were ellegations that he may be the father of her first three children, Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey Velaryon. These allegations are the reason that Viserys, Daemon and Corlys could have wanted Harwin to meet his death, and why Criston Cole, another rumoured lover of Rhaenyra, may have done him so much damage in the tourney.
