King Harmund III Hoare, also known as Harmund the Handsome, was a King of the Iron Islands from House Hoare.

History Edit

Harmund came from an era of Hoare kings who were opposed by the Drowned Men. This was as a result of their tolerance of the Faith of the Seven, their distaste for reaving and their preferance of trade.

Harmund was actively raised as a member of the Faith of the Seven by his parents, King Harmund II Hoare and Queen Lelia Lannister. He outraged the Ironborn and the Drowned Men by outlawing reaving and the taking of salt wives. A drowned man known as the Shrike led a rebellion, and Harmund was cast down and mutilated, losing his eyes, tongue and nose.

Harmund's brother, Hagon Hoare, took the throne and restored old Ironborn practices. Harmund was confined to the dungeons of Hoare Castle on Great Wyk. Hagon had his own mother mutilated and returned to Casterly Rock, incurring the wrath of House Lannister. When the westermen conquered Great Wyk in the seventh year of fighting, Ser Aubrey Crakehall considered restoring Harmund to the throne, but instead killed him out of mercy.
