The Great Sept of Baelor is the center of the Faith of the Seven in King's Landing. It is the residence of the High Septon. It is named for Baelor I Targaryen, who ordered its construction.

The Great Sept of Baelor is located on top of Visenya's Hill, and it features a large statue of Baelor. It consists of a dome and seven crystal towers, each of which has bells. The bells are rung on momentous occasions, like the death of a king.

The Great Sept is the location for the wake of Lord Tywin Lannister, after he was killed by his son, Tyrion Lannister. Ser Jaime Lannister stands vigil in the Sept over his father's corpse. Grand Maester Pycelle cries over Tywin's body. King Tommen I Baratheon is sick upon the dias of the Great Sept.
